Become a volunteer
We at DSWF pride ourselves on low administration costs and generous funding to save wildlife - but we can only achieve this by the constant help and invaluable support of our volunteers. As we continue to develop the work of the Foundation, our need for additional support grows too.
Can you help?
Voluntary work within our office:
We welcome volunteers to come to our office in Cranleigh near Guildford and join our team to help with a variety of work. You’ll be joining our regular “squad” of volunteers and even if you can only spare 1-2 hours a week, it really makes a difference.
Jobs you may like to get involved in include sending out membership and adoption packs, taking and fulfilling merchandise orders, answering the phone, sorting out stock, helping with appeals and mailings or becoming responsible for specific projects. We also need your ideas!
Talks and exhibitions:
Our regular talks and exhibitions around the country with David are hard work but great fun and very worthwhile - they bring in our "bread and butter" in sales and membership. We are now looking for volunteers who can offer their help at these events on a regular basis. The events generally involve travelling, long hours (including some weekends), some heavy physical lifting of stock and stands, setting up and selling etc. But on the plus side, they are fun and hugely satisfying (and of course DSWF pays any expenses!) Even if it's just one event a year or every one of the 20 or so we do across the country - we need you!
Countrywide support groups:
Another of our aims this year is to try and set up volunteer support groups across the country as contacts for DSWF. Through you, we can increase our supporter base ten fold and this will ultimately increase our fundraising potential for wildlife. You can help us raise awareness for our work to save critically endangered mammals, and encourage representation of DSWF at local events and shows and through the local media. As a supporter of DSWF, the chances are that your friends will wish to become supporters too. You may wish to hold fundraising events of your own for which we are delighted to send you literature and sponsorship forms, or simply distribute our magazines to your local vets, doctors and dentists to make people more aware of our work. There are so many ways in which you could help from your own home.
Get in touch:
If you feel that you could offer your support in any way, then please call the office 01483 272 323 and we will be happy to talk through any ideas and welcome you as a member of our "team for wildlife". We would love to hear from you.
Finally, we would like to make a special dedication to the volunteers who so generously give up their spare time for wildlife and DSWF - we really couldn't do it without you!
