Time is running out ... help us stop the killing
Welcome to DSWF's
new fundraising movement to rescue the tiger from the brink of extinction.
To mark his 80th birthday, David Shepherd has launched his most ambitious conservation project ever - TigerTime .
David says: "The tiger is perilously close to extinction. Is our legacy going to be the loss of this iconic animal? It breaks my heart to see what we are doing. Time is literally running out.
"I am launching a worldwide movement of people and businesses who share my view that we will not accept the loss of this iconic species. I am asking people in their hundreds of thousands to unite behind TigerTime . TigerTime is more than a campaign – it is a worldwide movement. I want people and businesses from all over the world, not just in Britain, to sign up. For me, this is an intensely emotional battle. It’s one we cannot afford to lose. "
Melanie Shepherd, Chief Executive of DSWF says, " TigerTime will focus on the direct actions that will save tigers. We will fund more anti-poaching patrols, more undercover work to flush out and prosecute illegal traders in tiger parts and we will lobby the Governments of Asia to play their full part in enacting and enforcing tiger saving legislation. "
There are now less than 3,200 Tigers left in the wild. Many fear that they will all be lost within 20 years if significant action is not taken.
